Mission

Our Mission is to express the love of Jesus Christ in the community for the transformation of the world.

our History

Saints Home United Methodist Church finds its roots in the Methodist Episcopal Church (MEC), which later became the United Methodist Church in 1968 through the union of three streams of tradition:

  • Methodism
  • The United Brethren Church in Christ
  • The Evangelical Association

Saints Home was established in the late 1800s by African-Americans deeply committed to peace, love, and unity.

In 1949, Saints Home was rebuilt from a wooden structure into a brick building and has continued to undergo renovations over the years. Today, we remain one of the most outstanding historic African-American churches in Winston-Salem.

Our church is inspired and motivated by the Word of God, especially these powerful scriptures:

“Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”
— Psalm 133:1

“By this everyone will know you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
— John 13:35

A major milestone in our history came on May 15, 2023, when Mayor Allen Joines of Winston-Salem selected Saints Home to receive an Historical Marker, which was erected on church grounds in recognition of our outstanding role in the Boston-Thurmond Community.

Throughout our history, Saints Home has been blessed with outstanding and dynamic pastors who have faithfully guided our congregation.

Effective July 1, 2026, Dr. Joseph A. Bryant was appointed pastor of Saints Home United Methodist Church.
